McEvey, Brigid
Biographical Note
McEvey (Bean Mhic a' Bheithigh, Kilroy), Brigid (Brighid) (c.1861-?): Brigid McEvey (née Kilroy) was born in Curry, county Sligo, around 1861. Her father was a farmer. She received a small amount of primary education. She was living in Curry with her family during the censuses of 1901 [http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003877771/] and 1911 [http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003276102/]. She married George McEvey of Dublin around 1888. They had five children but only four survived. Folklore collector Liam Mac Coisdealbha visited her in 1937, by which time she was deaf.
