Ó Sé, Pádraig
Biographical Note
Ó Sé (Shea), Pádraig (Patrick) (c.1873-?): Pádraig Ó Sé was born in Ardgroom, county Cork, around 1873. He went to school in Collorus, near Ardgroom. Both he and his father were farmers. As an adult, he spent ten years in America (c. 1896-1906), and then returned to Ardgroom. As well as his version of the Parable of the Prodigal Son (available on this site over two tracks), Doegen recorded his renditions of two songs by Diarmaid Ó Sé na Bolgaí (see http://www.ainm.ie/Bio.aspx?ID=1225) and another item entitled ‘Tráthnóinín Déanach’ (‘One evening late’); these do not survive, however, as the wax matrix was destroyed en route to Germany and no shellac disc was manufactured.
