Biographical Note

Ó Luineacháin (Ó Luineaháin, Linehan, Lenihan), Diarmaid (Jer, Jeremiah) (1854-?): Diarmaid Ó Luineacháin was born in Clondrohid, county Cork, in 1854. He was baptised 20 July 1854. His parents were Jeremiah Lenihan, blacksmith, and Mary Murphy. Diarmaid was a blacksmith also, though he was retired at the time of the Doegen recordings. He attended primary school in Clondrohid. As an adult, he lived for 20 years in Macroom before moving to Cork city, which is where he was living for the censuses of 1901 [http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000514507/] and 1911 [http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001860676/]. He married his wife, Mary, around 1881. They had eight children.
