Translation

My father was in Strabane at the fair, and he was riding on a horse. And he was coming home in the middle of the night. There were five men who came out of the field and they were after him for three miles. And when he came in... when he came in to... to the fair of... the fair of Castlederg there was nobody... weren't they all... they were all asleep. And he walked on until he came home. And that... I can't say anything else. I can't say anything else about it (...).

Commentary

This item is confused and incomplete, and is too short to allow for any clear folkloric analysis. It is transcribed also in Heinrich Wagner and Colm Ó Baoill, Linguistic atlas and survey of Irish dialects (4 vols, Dublin, 1958-69), vol. 4, 293.
